One of my favorite parts of being a New York City wedding planner is finding non-traditional, "alternative" wedding venues for my very cool NYC couples! While plenty of couples opt to hold their wedding in one of the beautiful catering halls and event spaces the city has to offer, others prefer to celebrate somewhere a little more casual, like a restaurant. Here are some of my favorite restaurants to hold a wedding in NYC!
Frankies 457's Red Hook location is the perfect spot for an intimate city wedding. The combined stable and garden can seat up to 75 guests who will dine on some of New York's best Italian food.
Couples looking for a romantic yet relaxed wedding reception with some outdoors time will love Williamsburg's french bistro restaurant - Juliette. In nice weather ceremonies and/or cocktail hour can be held on the rooftop followed by a sit-down dinner inside. Also great for brunch and wedding luncheons!
Located inside TriBeca's Greenwich Hotel, Locanda Verde's working stone fire place, pine wood details and cork ceiling offers a warm space for your party of 60 seated guests. The restaurant is known for its delicious Italian-style menu served family-style to large groups.
Located just steps away from Varick Street in TriBeca, Thalassa boasts three floors of gorgeous exposed brick walls, white columns and romantic lighting. Private events are typically held in the top floor loft, however many couples opt to have their ceremony or cocktail hour on the bottom floor. Note - Thalassa is a Greek restaurant so a spot for Mediterranean food & fish lovers only!
With a great cobblestone street location, classic downtown ambiance and an impressive wine-list and New American menu to match, TriBeca Grill is a popular pick amongst NYC couples. Smaller weddings can be held upstairs in the loft while larger groups are accommodated with a full restaurant buyout on the main floor.
Situated at the northern tip of SoHo on Macdougal Street, Hundred Acres is the ultimate spot for your NYC restaurant wedding. The delicious farm-to-table menu and quaint scenery can accommodate up to 80 guests for a sit-down dinner.
Chelsea Market lovers should check out Giovanni Rana Pastificio e Cucina or "Rana" for short - Chelsea Market's very own Italian restaurant available for private events. From delicious pasta dishes to a Tuscan-style ambiance with brass pans hanging from the ceiling and rustic wood floors, Rana is a perfectly unique restaurant for your wedding.
