There are so many options for venues around New York City, it can be hard to know where to start looking. Or worse, some couples feel that they're seeing the same places online over and over again and they know there are a lot more out there. We're here to help! If you’re looking for a loft or beautiful raw space for your wedding, this list is for you…
Gary’s Loft (Manhattan)
Gary’s Loft is a gorgeous and flexible event space right in Midtown Manhattan. It has a few different floors you could use for your event, including a roof deck with a view of the Empire State Building, but our clients’ favorite is the Penthouse. This full floor is a mock apartment, with huge windows surrounding three sides, a marble bathtub and a custom country kitchen. It has room for two bars for your guests (the bathtub can be used to ice beer and champagne!), and an area on the floor below for catering.
Dumbo Loft (DUMBO)
Built in 1891, this loft was a coffee factory and a manufacturer of smoking pipes before an event space. The Dumbo Loft is right near the river and has everything your Brooklyn-loving heart desires- exposed brick, wood beams, and a view of the Dumbo Triangle Park. The building was renovated in 2010 yet has kept many of its pre-war details, and is on the National Register of Historic Places as an example of American round arch style architecture.
Powerhouse Arena (DUMBO)
Home to the art book publisher Powerhouse Books, Powerhouse Arena is a 5000sq foot gallery and bookstore that can be changed into a modern and unique event space. With floor to (24 foot) ceiling windows, you’ll have incredible views of the East River and the Brooklyn and Manhattan Bridges. There’s amphitheatre style seating if you want to do your ceremony there, and a Sky Lounge for even better views of DUMBO.
501 Union (Gowanus)
Another classic building, 501 Union was built in 1916 and was a classic car restoration shop before it was renovated in 2013 into a private events space. The space comes with an open-air courtyard, cocktail lounge, and reception hall that can hold 160 for a seated dinner and dancing. The reception area has a 15-foot marble top bar and room-length vaulted skylight for great views all night long. Stay tuned for our own pictures from this one, we have a wedding coming up there in April!
